It is often suggested that minimum wage jobs are largely held by teenagers and thus raising the minimum wage is not as pressing an issue as workers’ rights advocates represent. But new numbers from the Economic Policy Institute (EPI) show that of the 22 million working mothers in the United States, over one-fifth would earn a raise if the minimum wage was $10.10.  The news seems timely considering yesterday’s Mother’s Day celebration, but female breadwinners would not be alone: 2.6 million fathers would receive a raise, too.
