A new infographic derived from official Department of Labor numbers paints a sad picture for families whose unemployment benefits are not being renewed.

44.5% of beneficiaries have a child in their household, the chart states.

The numbers also reflect a higher average education level (“1/2 have at least some college education”) among those in need of assistance than what is often portrayed on the Right as a bailout for the unmotivated.

New Ways and Means Committee analysis shows, “Nationwide, nearly 72,000 people are losing unemployment insurance, on average, every week – adding to the 1.3 million Americans who lost their benefits immediately on Dec. 28.”
