Indiana Building Trades Launch TV Ads in Hail Mary Effort to Halt GOP’s Wage-Slashing Extremism
As the Indiana GOP continues its partisan effort to repeal the state’s Common Construction Wage (CCW), labor advocacy groups are hitting the airwaves to take their counterpoint public. The repeal is currently in the hands of the Senate Tax and Fiscal Policy Committee after Labor Committee chair Phil Boots (R- Crawfordsville) said he did not wish to take up the issue. He felt a special session was needed, but ultimately the decision to change committees was made by Republican Senate President Pro Tem, David Long, a major repeal supporter.
Eliminating the decades-old CCW is politically motivated, opponents insist, and would open the door to out-of-state contractors on state funded projects. The ads that building trades unions have launched are streaming below:
