Baystate Health Praises the Building Trades for Work on a Hospital Expansion Done Under a PLA

Two years ago, Baystate Health, the “largest employer” in the Pioneer Valley region of Western Massachusetts, launched a $23 million dollar campaign to expand Baystate Medical Center. The hospital was built under a Project Labor Agreement (PLA) and has been hailed as a great success.

Baystate recently put together a video highlighting the benefits of having union construction workers on the project. Sadly, the video is not able to be embedded, so watch here

Fiore Grassetti, Iron Workers Local 7: “It was a perfect opportunity for both the Building Trades and the Iron Workers to be able to get on a large project like this and put a lot of our members back to work.”

Mark Tolosky, President & CEO of Baystate Health: “Our community is very fortunate that we have the number and level of skilled tradespeople that we do here.”
