Vogtle 3 and 4

Construction of units 3 and 4 at the Vogtle nuclear project in Georgia is ahead of schedule according to Georgia Power officials, another hallmark success story for Project Labor Agreements (PLAs).  The nuclear units are the first to be built in the United States in nearly three decades and, as we reported last year, has employed 2,300 workers of which 40 percent are military veterans. The project is one of the largest job-producers in the state.

Georgia Power officials told WJBF News 6:

Over the last few months, you’ve seen a lot of progress around both nuclear islands, so we’re really excited about the economic development that the project brings to the local community and also the jobs that it brings here for the state of Georgia,” says Georgia Power spokesman Brian Green.

Upon completion, the units will provide enough electricity to power roughly 500,000 homes for the next 60 years.  The video below is from WJBF News 6.
