Building Trades’ Radio Ad Highlights Sen. Mikulski’s Awful Vote on H-2B Guest Worker Amendment
Recently, we penned a piece about Democratic Senators forfeiting an opportunity to enforce stricter rules on the beleaguered H-2B guest work program by voting for an amendment that effectively takes jobs away from Americans.
The construction trades are particularly affected by this awful choice to “pick crabs over people.” What this means is that Senators who voted for Alabama Senator Richard Selby’s amendment — including Sens. Mikulski (D-MD) and Landrieu (D-LA) — are more concerned with the seafood industry’s ability to find cheap, foreign labor than to provide U.S. citizens with decent paying jobs.
In response, the Building and Construction Trades Department of the AFL-CIO ran the following radio ad in Maryland yesterday, July 4th.
