Some of the first military veterans to ship out after 9/11 came back with the goal of rebuilding the World Trade Center, either symbolically or physically. The Building and Construction Trades’ Helmets to Hardhats program (H2H) gave many of these veterans a chance for the latter as well as a pathway into a union career.

The pride that is felt by the workers who helped rebuild what was knocked down is evident in this moving video from the AFL-CIO which highlights the important H2H program that we have written about many times.
