Dylan Ratigan Has Been Bringing The Pitfalls Of Free Trade Agreements To The Semi-Mainstream

Recently, MSNBC host Dylan Ratigan has dug his heels into the pending Free Trade Agreements that President Obama and hordes of Republican leaders have pushed for. The FTAs are slated to be signed with Panama, Colombia, and South Korea and are similar to the wildly unpopular NAFTA of the Bill Clinton era. On Ratigan’s show, expert Leo Hendry discusses the problems with the upcoming agreements, point ing out that since the first FTA was signed with Israel in 1985, 10 more have been signed and not a single promise has been kept in any case:

In this second clip, Ratigan sounds off specifically against the FTA with Colombia. Colombia’s violent political culture is rough for union workers and leaders, many of whom are regularly threatened with death. Colombia produces half of the union assassinations on Earth despite accounting for a fraction of the world’s trade unionists.

The highlight of the video?

Dylan Ratigan — “I mean Dave Jameson, would you say from a business standpoint that killing union organizers is a great way to keep wages down?”
