One of America’s Top 10 Plants Threatening to Ship its Jobs to Mexico

As recently as two months ago, Philips awarded its Philips Luminaires plant in Sparta, Tenn., the “lean” manufacturing award, recognizing the efforts of workers, many of whom are represented by IBEW Local 2143, and management to increase productivity and cut costs. The average wage for production workers at the plant is $13 an hour. But now, the company is threatening to close the plant, ditch the nearly 300 people working there, and job-ship the operation to Mexico next year. The video below is a call to action, to tell Phillips not to pull the plug on American jobs.
